Water Reclamation Facility Grade IV Operators supervise and perform collection and testing of wastewater samples which requires a basic knowledge of chemistry, biology and analytical procedures, and the ability to interpret the results of these tests. Work also involves supervising, operating, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility to ensure effluent meets local, state and federal guidelines. Water Reclamation Facility Grade IV Operators supervise subordinates involved in a variety of waste water treatment plant operations to include scheduling, training, and assigning and reviewing work. Work is performed primarily in and around waste water treatment plants.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:
Driver's License.
Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) Wastewater Operator Grade IV Certification.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Conducts preventative maintenance techniques on WWTP operating equipment to ensure proper and safe plant operations.
Maintains plant equipment by replacing, rotating and cleaning clarifiers, presses, belts, pits, pumps, basins, UV module, sand filter system, etc.
Collects samples, conducts field and lab tests, performs laboratory tests, records calculations and test results and transposes results into monthly operating reports for submission.
Performs detailed inspections of the wastewater flow and the operating equipment and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper functioning.
Supervises subordinates involved in a variety of WWTP operations by assigning and delegating job duties, scheduling employees, and reviewing performance to ensure compliance with federal guidelines within the state permit.
Trains subordinates involved in a variety of WWTP operations by developing training programs, staying abreast with current wastewater guidelines, teaching courses, and providing orientation for new employees.
Communicates pertinent information regarding WWTP operations and guidelines to organization staff, public, and governing agencies.
Maintaining WWTP equipment inventory such as spare parts, lubricants, custodial, and laboratory supplies in order to ensure plant operations are uninterrupted.
Preparing annual budget for the WWTP by making budgeting requests, recommendations, and acquisitions for submission to the county commission in order to ensure that all resources for various plant operations are maintained.
Regulates plant processes depending on various settings, flow movement and other variables.
Gathers information from plant equipment and gauges, records readings and reports any malfunctions.
Maintains plant grounds by cleaning floors, walkways, buildings, removing trash and debris and performing repairs as necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job involves moderate physical exertion required for occasional prolonged periods of lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 75 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in and around waste water treatment plants. Work involves the use of various hand and power tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, saws etc. Job may require exposure to biological and/or chemical hazards, including raw sewage. Job may also require exposure to airborne contaminants (e.g., dust, odors, smoke, toxic fumes).EEO STATEMENT:
