The City of Birmingham is seeking a Drug Court Coordinator to manage the Adult Drug Treatment Program. This key role ensures the program's effectiveness, compliance, and service delivery by overseeing strategic planning, policy development, and budget management. The Coordinator supervises program operations, including case management, legal and drug testing requirements, and managing Drug Court dockets. Responsibilities also include grant writing, statistical reporting, program evaluation, contract management, and legal research to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. The Coordinator will develop project plans, engage the community, and coordinate stakeholder efforts. Additionally, the position involves supervising staff, assigning tasks, and providing feedback and training to ensure program success.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience developing, maintaining, and operating programs implemented for general public welfare that are specifically related to criminal justice, drug rehabilitation, or substance abuse intervention.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications deemed desirable by the City of Birmingham. These qualifications may be considered by the city when reviewing applications and inviting candidates to participate in subsequent steps in the selection process.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in counseling, social work, criminal justice, political science, law or a highly related field.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Develops, implements and manages specialty court programs to include strategic planning, objective monitoring, policy and procedure development, and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
Oversees the case management of specialty court offenders using applicable procedures, case file information, and/or drug test instruments to ensure court requirements are met.
Manages legal documentation by maintaining electronic and physical records and issuing and reviewing legal documents in accordance with established guidelines to ensure accuracy and access to records related to court activities.
Conducts legal research using databases, publications, websites and various forms of information (e.g., NCIC, AlaCop, Alabama Secretary of State, Westlaw) in order to ensure compliance with state and federal law and to verify information for accuracy.
Manages various projects by establishing project plans, timelines and objectives, coordinating resources and stakeholders, communicating project activities and overseeing project implementation using standard project management methodologies in order to ensure project completion in accordance with established objectives and goals.
Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training.
Prepares and administers grant proposals and funding applications to support specialty court programs by identifying funding opportunities, writing and submitting grant proposals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, monitoring expenditures, and preparing reports for stakeholders and funding agencies to ensure proper utilization and accountability of awarded funds.

Job is primarily sedentary involving sitting for long periods of time, but may involve occasional walking or standing for brief periods.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
