Jefferson County is seeking a Sewer Video Operations Supervisor that is responsible for overseeing and managing the inspection and preventative maintenance services of sanitary sewer systems and equipment across Jefferson County. This role includes the planning, organization, delegation, supervision, and evaluation of the work performed by multiple crews involved in video inspections and minor sewer line repairs. Incumbents are accountable for monitoring crew performance, addressing citizen complaints, and ensuring the effective execution of assigned tasks. Additionally, the Sewer Video Operations Supervisor plays a key role in developing and refining operational procedures for the division, supporting the planning and implementation of various projects, and evaluating the effectiveness of departmental policies, procedures, and initiatives. The position requires both office-based tasks and fieldwork at job sites, which may include exposure to adverse weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments, such as working near traffic, heavy equipment, and sewer infrastructure.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:
Driver's license.
Experience operating sewer video equipment (e.g., TV Inspection truck, jet washers, SL Rat).
Experience performing maintenance and troubleshooting problems with sewer video equipment.
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document daily activities and manage workorders (e.g., CityWorks, Procore, ACCELA, Infor, Sims, Mission).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications deemed desirable by Jefferson County. These qualifications may be considered by the agency when reviewing applications and inviting candidates to participate in subsequent steps in the selection processes.
Possession of an Alabama Department of Environmental Management Wastewater 1C Certification (ADEM WW1C).
Possession of a Pipeline Assessment Certification (PACP).
Experience reading and interpreting video system schematics and electronic diagrams.
Experience soldering circuit boards and wiring coaxial cables.
Experience supervising a work crew.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Prepares, monitors, and administers departmental or organizational budget by reviewing spending trends, expenditure reports, analyzing financial data and ensuring expenditures are within annual budgetary limits.
Analyzes and creates spreadsheets to monitor monthly expenditures and budget for each fund to ensure operating expenses are in line with projections.
Analyzes data (e.g., equipment usage, service records, materials cost) to predict departmental expenses, identify areas of waste, and/or facilitate financial decisions.
Anticipates and accounts for changes in the departmental budget due to various departmental processes (e.g., immediate equipment needs).
Approves expenditures based on the budget.
Procures and/or manages inventory (i.e., supplies and equipment) to ensure the products and services are available to meet the operational needs of each department.
Generates cost estimates and material lists for all major projects.
Generates reports in order to track progress on all departmental expenditures.
Identifies near and long-term infrastructure replacement and improvement needs used in multi-year capital improvement plans.
Oversees sewer inspection services performed by the department by ensuring that all work orders are picked up from dispatch office, updating the Sims map, ensuring that work is performed safely, reviewing reports of work completed, maintaining video records of inspections, and communicating with various individuals depending on the types of problems found during inspection.
Assures that expenditures to individuals, contractors, and vendors are consistent with contractual agreements and obligations.
Calculates costs of orders, and charges or forwards invoices to appropriate accounts.
Checks shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications.
Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid/quote among potential suppliers.
Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training.
Analyzes workload of staff by gathering relevant data (e.g., number of projects assigned, size and scope of projects, etc.) in order to make assignments and adjust responsibilities as needed.
Assigns and distributes work to staff based upon departmental/division needs, deadlines and qualifications of personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job involves physical exertion required for sustained periods of light physical activity such as walking or standing. The job may involve moderate physical activity including stooping, bending, twisting, crouching or crawling. Job may also involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing more than 50 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed both indoors in an office environment and outdoor job sites. Work may involve hazardous conditions including working around traffic, around rodents and roaches, hazardous waste, in rough terrain, and in confined spaces and depths.
