The Jefferson County Department of Health is hiring a Nutrition Services Coordinator to develop and coordinate a comprehensive public health nutrition program. Individuals in this job classification are responsible for direct oversight of the activities of professional staff involved in the WIC program to ensure standards of nutritional care are followed. This work requires the interpreting and implementing of applicable Federal, State and County rules and regulations to ensure nutrition services provided are in accordance with mandated regulations. Nutrition Services Coordinators also have administrative duties that include the leadership and management of subordinate staff, development and facilitation of work-related training and development, and the preparation and management of a departmental budget. Their work is performed under administrative supervision and is reviewed through reports, audits and meetings.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:
Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Licensure by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Dietetic/Nutrition Practice OR valid license to practice Dietetics/Nutrition from another state with requirement to obtain Alabama licensure within 90 days of hire.
Driver's license.
Experience providing nutrition guidance to clients/program participants in health-related environments (i.e., interpreting Federal and State guidelines, policies, and/or procedures; providing feedback to colleagues; implementing new processes).
Experience supervising subordinate staff in a health-related nutrition program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications deemed desirable by Jefferson County Department of Health. These qualifications may be considered by the Health Department when reviewing applications and inviting candidates to participate in subsequent steps in the selection processes.
Master's Degree in Public Health or related field.
Experience supervising employees providing services in a WIC program (e.g., interpreting Federal and State guidelines, policies, and/or procedures; providing feedback to staff; implementing new processes).
Experience working in and/or administering a grant funded program.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Prepares, monitors, and administers departmental or organizational budget by reviewing spending trends, expenditure reports, analyzing financial data and ensuring expenditures are within annual budgetary limits.
Manages a federal program by interacting with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., upper management, internal departments, vendors, jurisdictions, external agencies) to obtain or provide information.
Engages in activities designed to ensure professional development, awareness of developments in the field, and knowledge of relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and/or guidelines.
Oversees compliance with program guidelines by performing and/or facilitating internal and external (e.g., State, Federal) audits.
Oversees the contract process of federal programs.
Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training.
Manages time, attendance, leave processes, and submission of payroll information.
Conducts training to provide knowledge and understanding of work processes to ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job is primarily sedentary involving sitting for long periods of time, but may involve occasional walking or standing for brief periods. May involve occasional light lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is conducted almost exclusively indoors in an office setting. Work involves use of standard office equipment, such as computer, phone, copier, etc.EEO STATEMENT:
